SCS SB 357 -- PSYCHOLOGISTS SPONSOR: Schneider (Johnson, 90) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 13 to 0. This substitute corrects a section enacted in two separate bills in 1998 affecting the licensing of psychologists. It repeals Sections 337.029, RSMo, as it appears in SB 732 et al (1998), and retains Section 337.029, as it appears in HB 1601 et al (1998). The retained version contains specific requirements for psychologists licensed in other states applying for licensure in Missouri. The repealed version only requires that the psychologist must have satisfied requirements in another state that are equal to or greater than Missouri's requirements. The substitute has an emergency clause. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is needed to fix a problem affecting the licensing of psychologists and professional counselors. Testifying for the bill were Senator Schneider; and Peggy Probst. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
